Around the World in Eighty Days

"Listen to this," he announced to his friends."It says it's possible to travel around the world in only eighty days!"     Despite his friends' laughter, Fogg was convinced he could do it.   Over one hundred years ago, there lived a man named Phileas Fogg. He had spent quiet time for many years. However, one day, he found an article said you could travel around the world in only eighty days. All his friends thought it was impossible, but Fogg was different. He believed that he could do it and he promised his friends to come back in eighty days. During his trip, things aren't always going well. While Fogg was crossing Europe, the police were hunting a runaway thief. The thief really resembled Fogg so the police was trying to arrest Fogg! Could he finished his trip for eighty days safely?   As Fogg in this book, I have a dream to travel around the world. Alice through the Looking-Glass

Image
The glass was melting away, like a bright silvery mist. In a moment, Alice was through and had crossed over into the looking-glass room.  One day, Alice is playing with her cat, Kitty and she held up the cat up to the mirror. She pretends the glass has gone soft in order to get through. Surprisingly, it really becomes soft!! Then, her mysterious journey begins. In the mirror world, various creatures like Humpty Dumpty come across her. I felt a little bit difficult just after reading this book because the scenes were changing rapidly. But I could understand little by little through a literature circle.   In a literature circle, a discussion leader asked us if we had been to wonderland. I answered yes. When I was a high school student, I went to Taiwan as a school trip. Everything that I saw was new and fantastic for me. Especially, my Taiwanese friend recommended that I eat fermented tofu. I was really surprised to smell that. Its smell was stinky so I couldn't eat it. At that

THE STORY OF FOOTBALL

Image
Today, football matches still arouse incredible passion. Over 240 million people play in teams around the world - that’s 1 in every 25 people on the planet. So wherever you are, you’re never far from someone kicking a ball.        I learned the history of women soccer in a French class last week. So I got interested in the history more and I went to the library and found this book. This book shows how the football had begun and how it had spread around the world. I was surprised to find the sport was started in the ancient China over 2000 years ago. People living there made balls that were stuffed with goat fur. Of course, at that time, football was not completed. A hundred years later, the Roman army also trained with footballs. Gradually they were spreading all over the world. In 1904, FIFA was created to make sure every country played by the same rules. In 1930, a new competition was created between different nations. It is called the World Cup. In Japan, football is loved

You’re walking!”      “Isn’t it wonderful,” laughed Clara. “Grandfather and Heidi made it happen.”     “And Peter,” Grandfather put in, his eyes twinkling.      “You did it, Clara,” said Heidi. “It was your hard work.”      “It’s a miracle,” Mr. Sesemann beamed. “Clara I’m proud of you. Thank you, thank you everyone.”     We talked about this book in the literature circle this week. Heidi is a little girl in Switzerland. Unfortunately, she has no father or mother so she lives with her grandfather in his little wooden house. She is really active and has curiosity to anything. However, one day, her aunt Dete takes her to Frankfurt in order to go to school. Then, she meets Clara Sesemann who sits in her wheelchair every day.
