THE STORY OF FOOTBALL

     Today, football matches still arouse incredible passion. Over 240 million people play in teams around the world - that’s 1 in every 25 people on the planet. So wherever you are, you’re never far from someone kicking a ball.

       I learned the history of women soccer in a French class last week. So I got interested in the history more and I went to the library and found this book. This book shows how the football had begun and how it had spread around the world. I was surprised to find the sport was started in the ancient China over 2000 years ago. People living there made balls that were stuffed with goat fur. Of course, at that time, football was not completed. A hundred years later, the Roman army also trained with footballs. Gradually they were spreading all over the world. In 1904, FIFA was created to make sure every country played by the same rules. In 1930, a new competition was created between different nations. It is called the World Cup. In Japan, football is loved and played by many people. Japanese footballers are playing around the world and they make their fans excited.


This year, Women’s World Cup has held in France and many countries competed each other. A Japanese team called “Nadeshiko Japan” was played there. Unfortunately, they couldn’t be the No. 1. But we believe they will surely win the tournament in the next World Cup.
